Welcome to The Inspired Sprout
Hi! Welcome! Some of you may already know me. I’m Nicole. I am a gardener in Loveland, Colorado. To say I love plants would be an understatement. My first passion is gardening, but a close second is my houseplants. Other hobbies include watercolor, reading and reasearching, making soap (I used to have a business on Etsy), cardmaking, yoga, and crochet, though I haven’t had as much time for these since my son was born. I am the founder of the Facebook groups Plant Exchange Northern Colorado and Gardening in Northern Colorado. If you’re here from one of the groups, welcome!
I was inspired to create this blog and the Facebook group Gardening in Northern Colorado so that more focused attention could be given to sharing information about gardening than I am able to cover in my other group, Plant Exchange Northern Colorado. I am passionate about encouraging as many people as I can to grow food, and now it feels even more vital to have this knowledge and confidence in growing food for our families for our mental and physical well being, peace of mind during uncertain times, pocketbooks, the environment, and a variety of reasons that will be individual to each person. Having a supportive community and know-how to grow your own food is so empowering. I want to cultivate this community.
YouTube is a fantastic resource, but my plant fam is looking for straightforward information on where to start, and not everyone has time to sort through and watch hours of content that may or may not be relevant to growing in Colorado. That’s definitely not to say I won’t have videos, because I am working on making some companion videos. Plus, not everyone wants to do loads of independent research. Having a community where you can ask individualized questions makes the process less intimidating, and helps build your confidence.
I have been gardening on the front range almost my entire life. First in Colorado Springs as a little girl, where I devoured gardening books from the library and loved starting veggies from seed, to having a meager container garden on my balcony in Fort Collins, to my garden at my house in Loveland, where I have lived the past seven years. And now that I have a little one that is now decidedly into toddlerhood, I am excited to have a new gardening buddy and have him be involved with the cultivation, growing, and eating the food that we grow.
Join me in growing this community 💚
